Pink Polaroid Impulse AF With New Film Cartridge $92.00

Who doesn't love vintage cameras? One shop on Etsy has a plethora of vintage cameras for sale. How cool, now you can have a flashback to the past and see lots of Polaroid and other retro cameras at Upcycled Classics on Etsy.  The great part is, they are in working condition and come with film!  The pink one above is super cool, and has been "pink-i-tized" by the curator.

Green AutoFocus Impulse Upcycled Green Camera is $104

Gary G. is the curator and he runs the shop from Santa Rosa, California.  This brings back some memories for me. When I was young, Polaroid instant cameras were everywhere. So much so, some of our weekly runs were to go to the store just to get more film. I remember the one we had was white with a rainbow on the front.  My grandmother had a nicer all black model.

Vintage Camera in Red on Etsy

The Big Swinger 3000 in Red is Super Retro, only $72 circa 60's

The boxed film didn't last long, there we had a big family and I liked to think I may have taken some of my best photographs back then.  I remember the excitement of waiting for the picture to pop out, and it taking a moment to develop.  Now, vintage cameras are in. Not only for collectors to covet but for you to use and rightfully so. Nothing like taking a modern day photo with a vintage style camera.

Estate Item: Edward Sheriff Curtis Orotone Seattle Photographer

Native American Orotone
Courtesy of Crown City Estate Auctions:  Original Curtis Orotone
Check out this auction for a rare Edward Sheriff Curtis Orotone, a Seattle Photographer, that is also signed by Curtis dating back to 1909! In case you don't know, these specimens are extremely rare.  The process of making orotones comprised of many steps and Curtis used this process frequently.   First you had to print a "positive" on glass plate, but this was precoated with a special gelatin.  After that, banana oils and gold pigments were used in the exposure and development process.  The fact is, the photographs were ultimately printed and transferred onto glass making them extremely fragile.  Examples that survived all these years are few and far between.

Curtis Orotone
Original provenance makes this even more of a collectible. Found: Crown City Estate Sales

To find an original signed, and in the original frame is unheard of.   Edward S. Curtis (1868-1952) did much work in Native American (first in 1895)  and old West photography and portraits.  His work went unappreciated until the revival in 1970. An original work of his may go for thousands of dollars. This one, originally done an illustration for a book called "The Flute of the Godsand", and this work is called "THE MAID OF DREAMS."

You can bid on it now. Crown City Estate Sales

Vintage Photography: Ana Pontes Deck the Walls

Teacups and Roses  8x12  $21 at AnaPontesPhotography
Perhaps you love antiques but don't want them sitting all over your home and collecting dust. Then why not go for vintage photography as a viable alternative?  I just adore the work of Ana Pontes who has just recently put her work up for sale in the AnaPontesPhotography Etsy shop!

Typewriter and Rose 8x12 $21 by AnaPontesPhotography
I was just talking about how much I love old typewriters the other day, but this photo is amazing. It would look great in a dining room, living room or office.   She also has a wide selection of floral shots, a lot of roses, natural landscapes and still life shots in her portfolio.

Dolls and Bears, 8x12 $21.00 at AnaPontes Photography
Perhaps my favorite is the vintage dolls and bears.  She has managed to capture the beauty of such old, and it's new again. This would look lovely on the wall, and what's better, your antiques won't get dusty or dirty or broken over time. The most maintenance you have is the occasional dusting of a frame.
