Thiftwood Vintage Etsy shop offers home decor, collectibles, antiques and vintage clothing.  Unique, hippie and one of a kind items are found here.  Shop owner Emily has an eye for the vibrant and the different.  Above, an adorable brass trinket box makes for cute storage of jewelry, priced at $16.  Below, a very that 70's era pillow shows someone's handmade craftiness of years gone by.  For $19 this is sure to please.

The shop is owned and curated by Emily from Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. This is a small beautiful village near the coast which has been dubbed the Seafood Capital of the state.   Emily describes herself as a treasure hunter, who loved to go antiquing with her mom as a young girl.  Below, a 90's style Galaxy dress is still wearable and glam today, priced at only $24 would make a great gift for yourself or someone else.

Emily explains, "Carefully curated with all things vintage, thrifted and kitschy and deliciously boho, Thriftwood is the place to go when looking for a weirdly cool pair of earrings, a statement piece....., or flowing frock to wear on Friday's date night........."     We would have to agree you can find just about anything here, spoil yourself and look around!  Prices are great in our book and you can find and ship that great gift idea for under $30!

Catching up with TheIDConnection

Winter's here, this original ugly sweater is found at TheIDConnection on Etsy!

We are thrilled with the vintage selection found at TheIDConnection on Etsy. There are so many items and we don't know what we will find there. When we say so many, we mean THOUSANDS of items. Who has time to list that many ? This shop in Galveston, that's who. Wow.    We asked Roland and Monica, shop owners for a minute of their time,  for an interview, and here's what they said.

Why and when did you start selling vintage? 

In 1996 we opened our antique store, and came online in October 2008!  We are always listing new items in our Etsy shop, TheIDConnection!

What your favorite vintage items are or what you collect? 

Vintage Clothes, Jewelry, & Paper.  We collect a bit of everything!

Anything currently in your shop with a great story? 

We have a large collection of Indonesian, Bali antiquities. We conducted an estate sale and the owners commissioned us to sell these items. Items that go back to the 60's and 70's. 


What item will you hate to see go and why? 

The apothecary cabinet.  (See below --- The cabinet is authentic 1900's Medical Chest of Drawers from the Rice Institute of Houston, Texas. Made of solid oak it holds twelve dove tailed drawers, ten of which have original locks.  The cabinet is expected to be circa 1914-1914 as the Rice Institute changed names to the Rice University in Houston, TX ).

80s Rock Star Edge Clothing Rosies and Rockers

Vintage edged clothing is the new "it", according to Rosies and Rockers  , a hipster boutique out of Washington DC.  There you will find the most trend setting styles that have hit the East Coast in years. 

Back in the big hair 80's rocker days, there was a fashion boutique called Merry-Go-Round, however, they didn't last because their clothing was too expensive and mass produced.  You would have had to be the lead singer of Whitesnake to afford an outfit.

Roland Dressler has a successful vintage shop on Etsy, called TheIDConnection.  The shop opened in 2008 and has done well. Roland has over 1700 followers!  People are watching his every find, and he's built up a loyal fan base.   I am glad he gave me an opportunity to interview him!

Q: Why do you think you are so successful on Etsy?

A:  First of all, I believe in doing business the old fashioned way. My shop is from Galveston, Texas  My customers are important and I give great customer service .  (Note: Roland even offers that if you are ever visiting Southeast Texas near Galveston Island he knows where all the gems are--the great little Thrift Shops & Resale Stores are located ... Mom & Pop stores with the unique Texana relics you're looking for, and he will help you find them!)

Q: When did you come to Etsy and why? 

A: I opened in 2008 and this stems from collecting antiques, primitives and vintage.

A:   I love the art deco styling on this piece.   (Roland is referring to a 1930's bronze metalware piece featuring cranes. It's very well made and normally you see the older 60s and 70s knock offs done in plastic, but he's somehow coveted the real deal circa 1930's.)

Oversized Henley Vintage Sweater, Shirt  $29

I just interviewed Beulah Louise Vintage on Etsy.  This shop is owned by Robin, who lives in Alexandria, Virginia.  She finds the best vintage clothing, and I wanted to know more.  I should include that the shop specialized in vintage clothing from the 1940's to the 1990's, and some vintage jewelry finds too!

Particularly interesting is the name of her shop, was named after her late Grandmother  Ms. Beulah Louise Core  who played a major role into introducing Robin into the world of vintage.  So here we go...interview time!

Q: I bet that really formed your childhood into thinking vintage was the best! What is your best vintage memory?


A: I can remember spending countless hours in her jewelry box piling on as many clip on earrings and strands of pearls as my 8 year-old body could sustain, while listening to the record player spin sounds of the 50's and 60's !

Q: What is your favorite items to keep, or rather, do you collect anything? 

A: I personally love 1950s and 1960s day dresses and party dresses as well as all vintage jewelry, particularly from the 1940s.

A: I started selling vintage in September of this year because I love collecting vintage items myself and I have an eye for great finds.

RoryLaRue Vintage Clothing and More on Etsy

Rory LaRue added the personal touch to these Cowgirl boots, $84

Certainly worth mentioning is Rory LaRue's Vintage shop on Etsy. It's curated with everything and anything vintage. Though the overall theme suggests clothing we've found much more waiting to be had.  Boots, dresses, mugs, and house decor are just a few things.

These $45 and so worth it.  These boots just got much more stylish!

We found it chock full of cool western wear including cowboy / cowgirl retro vintage boots. Rory LaRue has obviously made these boots a bit more hip and trendy by hand painting art on them.  From swallows to roses these are worth mentioning. the artwork has been sealed for durability and make these vintage couture!

Vintage BOHO Shorts in Suede are $63

This shop is worth bookmarking because you never know what you will find here. From 70s cowgirl to 50's retro floral to 60's Bohemian, the mix is superb for a vintage picker! Although the overall vibe is a mid western feel you will find other styles for your perusal.  The shop is curated by Marissa in Phoenix, Arizona.
