We talk a lot about vintage items from Etsy here on VintageChalet, and recently I've added the Living Vintage page, which is essentially all the great vintage inspired products for our life! Q: Tell us exactly what you do and how you are inspired.  

A:  I revamp old things!  Essentially I make decor and furniture items for the home. One of the lines of my store is French artistry meets Austin originality.  (Wabi-Sabi Creations. 50% Texas, 50% France, 100% original! )  Each handmade functional art piece is completely unique , and a  reflection of "perfectly imperfect" design.

Q:  What brought you to Etsy and what does it mean to you?

A:  To me, Etsy is the best support to promote handmade and artist made products. MadameCollage is all about originality. I glue everything I find, give a new life to boring objects, boxes etc... Each creation is handmade and totally unique. All types of papers are used.

A: These items are not mass-produced and show cute imperfections, They are unique and original.Our collages are realized using only the best quality media, always acid and lignin free (pictures, newspaper, book, scrapbook, washi tape...) Vintage Art Auction Online Til December 21st

Crown City Estate Sales is at it again, this time with vintage art up for grabs. Works include some from late Swiss sculptor and artist Hans Erni including watercolor and signed pencil drawing lithographs.   Jean de Paleologue , is also featured who above, who did this gorgeous 5 foot"Loterie Parisian poster!  (aka Julius Prince) and you will even find some original oil signed by Helier Cosson. Q: Why do you think you are so successful on Etsy?

A:  First of all, I believe in doing business the old fashioned way. My shop is from Galveston, Texas  My customers are important and I give great customer service .  (Note: Roland even offers that if you are ever visiting Southeast Texas near Galveston Island he knows where all the gems are--the great little Thrift Shops & Resale Stores are located ... Mom & Pop stores with the unique Texana relics you're looking for, and he will help you find them!)

Q: When did you come to Etsy and why? 

A: I opened in 2008 and this stems from collecting antiques, primitives and vintage.

A:   I love the art deco styling on this piece.   (Roland is referring to a 1930's bronze metalware piece featuring cranes. It's very well made and normally you see the older 60s and 70s knock offs done in plastic, but he's somehow coveted the real deal circa 1930's.)

Collecting Vintage Coffee Pots

Vintage Coffee Pot , West Bend, $350 at Light and Time Art on Etsy

Do you know anyone who actually collects vintage coffee pots? This would be a huge and vast choice for a collector comprising of glass pots, french press coffee pots, aluminum canister pots, commercial pots, plastic pots and home brewing pots.   What about enamel coffee pots?  As you can tell it would be too numerous to fathom and certainly the collector would want to tailor it down to what appeals to them.  Above, a rare Kodak 1970's pot looks, at first glance, like a giant roll of Kodak film. Great for the advertising collector. Although many people thought these pots were only used commercially, we had one in our household growing up. (We had a big family, and loved the coffee.)  You can buy it at Light and Time Art, for $350.

French Vintage Shop offers this coffee pot for $127.10

If I was collecting coffee pots I must admit, I'd have to go for the gorgeous, like the above French enamelware coffee pot. Obviously from the early 1900's this was lovingly used and imagine how lovely the coffee would look being poured out of this back in the day. The issue of course is with the enamelware over time the items would chip, and possibly rust, so finding them in good displayable condition is hard and rare. The above item retails for $127.10 and that's not a bad price considering how lovely this item is to display.  Of course you can't use them , as they are deemed unsafe, but who would want to? This would be a rare gem in the coffee pot collection.

Mid Century Modern Coffee Pot $25 from Circe Collectables

Overlooked and under-collected surely would be the ceramic coffee pots. Many dinnerware manufacturers not only made ceramic coffee pots as specialty additions to their lines, but occasionally you will find whole ceramic sets made with the pot and cups. It's hard to tell if they were originally meant for tea, sake , or coffee but who cares when they are this cool they are a must have addition to the collection.

A big push in the 1960's had many mid century modern manufacturers, novelty companies and the like jumping on the bandwagon selling coffee service sets, and a whole slew came out of Japan for decorative purposes. If you look hard enough you can find real gems to add to your collection, like the one above for only $25 featuring a great Mid Century Modern Design from Circe Collectables on Etsy.

Etsy shop HappyKristen offers this funky Regal coffee pot only $25

Let's not forget plastic!   Plastic fantastic is a whole other wing for collectors, and great finds can be had like this retro coffee pot (11 cup)  available at Happy Kristen on Etsy for $25.  Plastic will be the hardest to find, because over time they've been dropped, cracked or burnt. This is a rare gem!

Aluminum coffee pots, although the most common can sometimes still be found unused , in the box, and would be a rare collection addition.  This is only $12 at LucyBettyNJune Shop on Etsy.

I just interviewed Beulah Louise Vintage on Etsy.  This shop is owned by Robin, who lives in Alexandria, Virginia.  She finds the best vintage clothing, and I wanted to know more.  I should include that the shop specialized in vintage clothing from the 1940's to the 1990's, and some vintage jewelry finds too!

Particularly interesting is the name of her shop, was named after her late Grandmother  Ms. Beulah Louise Core  who played a major role into introducing Robin into the world of vintage.  So here we go...interview time!

Q: I bet that really formed your childhood into thinking vintage was the best! What is your best vintage memory?


A: I can remember spending countless hours in her jewelry box piling on as many clip on earrings and strands of pearls as my 8 year-old body could sustain, while listening to the record player spin sounds of the 50's and 60's !

A: I personally love 1950s and 1960s day dresses and party dresses as well as all vintage jewelry, particularly from the 1940s.

A: I started selling vintage in September of this year because I love collecting vintage items myself and I have an eye for great finds.

RoryLaRue Vintage Clothing and More on Etsy

Rory LaRue added the personal touch to these Cowgirl boots, $84

Certainly worth mentioning is Rory LaRue's Vintage shop on Etsy. It's curated with everything and anything vintage. Though the overall theme suggests clothing we've found much more waiting to be had.  Boots, dresses, mugs, and house decor are just a few things.

These $45 and so worth it.  These boots just got much more stylish!

We found it chock full of cool western wear including cowboy / cowgirl retro vintage boots. Rory LaRue has obviously made these boots a bit more hip and trendy by hand painting art on them.  From swallows to roses these are worth mentioning. the artwork has been sealed for durability and make these vintage couture!

Vintage BOHO Shorts in Suede are $63

This shop is worth bookmarking because you never know what you will find here. From 70s cowgirl to 50's retro floral to 60's Bohemian, the mix is superb for a vintage picker! Although the overall vibe is a mid western feel you will find other styles for your perusal.  The shop is curated by Marissa in Phoenix, Arizona.
